Positions obtained from satellite navigation systems referred to WGS 84 Datum can be plotted directly onto this chart. Caution must be exercised in the transfer of geographical positions to other charts not in terms of WGS 84 Datum.

DEPTH CONTOURS
The depth contours on this chart have been interpolated from all available information, which in ocean areas is insufficient for an accurate portrayal of the sea bottom. Vessels should navigate with due caution inside the 200 metre contour as uncharted dangers may exist.

Reported but unconfirmed depths or dangers are indicated by an encircling dotted line.

ANTARCTIC BASES
Manned bases are indicated by a small circle, o , with name and / or country abbreviation. Unoccupied bases and refuges are indicated by a small square, □ . These are correct to 1998. For further information see Admiralty Sailing Directions.

MAGNETIC VARIATION CURVES ARE FOR 1995
The magnetic variation is shown in degrees, followed by the letter E or W as appropriate, at certain positions on the curves. The annual change is expressed in minutes with the letter E or W and is given in brackets, immediately following the variation. Approaching the South Magnetic Pole the annual change to the magnetic variation is large (generally greater than 30' [E or W as applicable]), and increases rapidly towards the pole.
