It is declared a Protected Natural Area, with the character of Flora and Fauna Protection Areas, the area known as Islands of the Gulf of California, in the states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora and Sinaloa. In the region of the Central Gulf, the largest numbers of islands are located as buffer zones. These areas are considered fragile and sensitive environmental systems, for which the general public must abide by the provisions of the respective Management Program and the provisions contained in the Decree published on June 7, 2000 in the Official Gazette of the Federation.
