It is declared a Protected Natural Area with the character Flora and Fauna Protection Area, the area known as the northern portion and the eastern coastal strip, land and sea of Cozumel Island, located in the municipality of Cozumel, in the State of Quintana Roo. These areas are considered fragile and sensitive environmental systems, for which the general public must abide by the provisions of the respective Management Program and the provisions contained in the Decree published of the Official Gazette of the Federation on September 25th 2012.
