It's declared Protected Natural Area with the Reserve Character of the Biosphere wing Region known as Mexican Caribbean, located in the Municipalities of Isla Mujeres, Benito Juárez, Tulum and off the coast of Puerto Morelos, solidarity, Cozumel, Bacalar and Othon P. Blanco, in the Quintana Roo state. The general user public must adhere to the provisions and administrative rules of the Management Program established for the buffer zone, according to the Official Journal of the Federation of December 7th, 2016.
