It is declared a Protected Natural Area, with the character of Area of Protection of Flora and Fauna, the zone known as Terminos Lagoon, located in the municipalities of Carmen, Palizada and Champoton, in the state of Campeche. The area consists of a polygon corresponding to the buffer zone, within which are located five subzones of management. These areas are considered fragile and sensitive environmental systems, so the general public must abide by the respective Management Program and the provisions contained in the Decree published on June 6th, 1994 in the Official Gazette of the Federation
