It is declared a Protected Natural Area, with the character of a National Park, the area is known as Islas Marietas, located in the Bay of Banderas in the state of Nayarit. The area is integrated by a polygon corresponding to the buffer zone, within which there are four core zones corresponding to the two islands Larga and Redonda, as well as two islets located in the northern part of Isla Larga. These areas are considered fragile and sensitive environmental systems, for which reason the general public must abide by the provisions of the respective Management Programme and the provisions contained in the Decree published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on 25th, April 2005. Permitted activities require authorization, by the applicable legal provisions.
