It is declared a Protected Natural Area, with the character of Flora and Fauna Protection Area, the area known as Lobos-Tuxpan Reef System, located in the municipalities of Tamiahua and Tuxpan, in the state of Veracruz. The area is integrated by two polygons corresponding to the buffer zone; the Lobos Polygon, which includes three reef formations known as Lobos, Medio and Blanquilla; the Tuxpan Polygon, which includes three reef formations known as Tuxpan, Enmedio and Tanhuijo. These areas are considered fragile and sensitive environmental systems, therefore the general public must abide by the respective Management Program and the provisions contained in the Decree published on June 5th, 2009 in the Official Gazette of the Federation.
