It is declared a Protected Natural Area, with the character of a sanctuary, the area known as Rancho Nuevo Beach, located in the states of Chiapas, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacan, Oaxaca, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas and Yucatan. The area consists of a polygon corresponding to the buffer zone, the only breeding area in the world of the Atlantic Olive Ridley Turtle Lepidochelys kempi. This area is considered to be a fragile and sensitive environmental system, for which reason the general public must abide by the provisions contained in the DECREE published on July 16th, 2002 in the Official Gazette of the Federation. Currently without a published Management Program.
