It is declared a Protected Natural Area, 
with the character of a Sanctuary, the area known as Playa de Puerto Arista, located in the municipality of Tonala, in the State of Chiapas. This area is determined as a reserve zone and refuge site for the protection, conservation, repopulation, development and control of the diverse species of sea turtles. Therefore the general public must abide by the provisions contained in the Decree published in the Official Journal of the Federation on July 16th of 2002.
