It is declared a Protected Natural Area, with the character of Flora and Fauna Protection Area, the area known as The northern portion and eastern coastal strip, land and sea of Cozumel Island, located in the municipality of Cozumel, in the State of Quintana Roo. The area is integrated by a polygon corresponding to the buffer zone, within which are located two core zones called Land Core Zone and Marine Core Zone. These areas are considered fragile and sensitive environmental systems, for which the general public must abide by the provisions of the respective Management Program and the provisions contained in the Decree published on September 25, 2012 in the Official Gazette of the Federation.
