It is established within the Mexican Caribbean Biosphere Reserve Core Zones: Boca Iglesias Wetlands, Chacmochuch Lagoon, the Xcacel-Xcacelito Marine, Colmer Submarine Hills, Banco Chinchorro Profundo and Caiman Submarine Ridge, the general public must take extreme precautions and be subject to the provisions of the Management Program and the provisions contained in the Decree published on December 7th, 2016 in the Official Gazette of the Federation.
