Local weather
During the NE monsoon there is a heavy swell on the outer beaches; short duration but violent wind and rain storms occur: calms are frequent in the morning. A Wind sometimes develop in the harbour causing small breaking waves which can endanger boats.The dry season is from April/May to September during the SW monsoon, although there is a tendency for showers in the afternoon and evening.

Currents
The current extinguished largely depends on the distance from the coast and the monsoon, which together with the circulations in Bay of Bengal. are the principal driving factors. The currents are often strong, variable in direction, abrupt, and unpredictable, especially during the periods of monsoon change.

Wrecks and Obstructions
Numerous dangerous Wrecks and obstructions, many with positions approximate or uncharted, lie in these waters, their positions are best seen on the chart.

Fishing 
Many small fishing craft may be encountered along the coast.
