Mul Dwarka Port

1	General Information.Mul Dwarka Port (20° 45´•34N, 70° 39´•95E) is situated 6 km south of Kodinar town and 45 km south of Veraval port. Seaward limits of the port extend up to 10 fathoms contour. 
	MulDwarka is an all-weather direct berthing port. The port is privately owned and developed by M/s Ambuja Cements Ltd. A breakwater east of Mul Dwarka temple which is 1025 m long along a lay of 160-340 provides shelter from sea.
2	Function.The port exports cement and importscoal, gypsum and furnace oil. 
3	Tides.Max range of tide is 2.4 meter. Tidal streams of 1-1.5 kts are experienced between Diu head and Sutrapura.
4	Weather.Weather is seasonal. The port is subject to south-west monsoon between 15 May and 15 September.
5	Port Limits.The port limits are marked on the navigational chart.

Pilots and tugs

1	Pilotage.Pilotage is compulsory for all vessels. Services of local Pilots can be had on request. Such a request should be addressed to local agents. Masters are advised to pass ETA at least 72 hrs and update the same 48 hrs, 24 hrs 
	and 12hrs prior to arrival. Pilot embarks 1 Nm SSW of breakwater.
2	Tugs.Two VSP tugs of 45T BP are available in the port. Vessels are required to provide theri own lines for berthing. Tugs namely SCH3 and DCI4 join vessels at the breakwater. The tugs normally operate on MMB channel 6/15.
3	Vessels are to contact the port control on MMB channel 15, provide ETA and take instructions from the authorities. MMB Ch 15 is the working channel of the port.
 
Harbour
	The approach to harbour can be made on a course 000 heading on lattice mast. At about 01 Nm, the course should be altered as convenient to maintain a CIR of about 1.5 cables from the jetty edge. The clearing CIR should not be more 
	than 2 cables to keep clear of the shallow patch and not less than 0.75 cables. The final approach leg is on 320/325 for berthing alongside Ambuja Cement jetty. There is a red light provided at one end of the breakwater and is visible from a 
	distance of about 1.2 Nm from the port.

Jetties

1	The port has two jetties, which are open piled structures with tuber bunds and a piled approach from the breakwater. The port has four alongside berths. The fender arrangement on old port is inadequate.
2	The old jetty, which is further north of new jetty, contains two berths (1&2) with a lay of 314-134 for vessels of 90m length. The present length of jetty is 210m. Depths available vary from 2.5 to 6.0m. Maximum draught handled is 3.7m.
3	The lay of new jetty is 160-340 and it runs parallel to the breakwater. The length of jetty is 297.5m and it has two berths (No 3 & 4). Berth No 3 can accommodate vessels of draught 6-8m and berth No 4 can accommodate vessels with 
	draught upto 10m. Depths alongside available are 9.5 to 10m. The size of vessel being handled are length-110-130m, beam – 15.5m, DWT -18000 to 20000 tons.
4	Bulk cement/clinker is loaded by means of a mechanised ship loader on rails. Principle cargo handled is import of coal and gypsum. The outreach of the loader is 15.5 m from the face of the jetty fender. 
5	Anchorage.	Two Anchorages south of breakwater are established. Anchorage “A” for vessels up to 4000 GRT and Anchorage “B” for vessels over 4000 GRT.
6	Caution.There exists a shallow patch (6m) abreast of the new jetty about 2 cables away. Ships are to exercise caution and turn accordingly for making approach to the berth. The shallow patch is easily visible due to discoloration of water.
