Landfall Island (Tebi Chiro) Anchorage and Approaches


1	Landfall Island (Tebi Chiro), (13º 39' N, 93º 00'E), is fringed by a reef which extends upto ½ mile offshore in places.

2	Landfall Rocks, 13m high and prominent, stand on a reef fringing the SE end of the island. A stranded wreck lies close NE of the island.

3	Flat Rock, 2m high, lies close off the NE end of Landfall Island. 

4	East Island (13º 38' N, 93º 03'E), about ¾ mile E of Landfall Island, is separated from the latter by a very narrow channel navigable only by boats. A small jetty exists and vessels with less than 3m draught can go 			alongside. There is another concrete jetty at (13º 37'.9 N, 93º 02'.6 E) of 166 m length and 9m wide with depths alongside above 5 m.  Low draught barges with local knowledge arrive at the jetty mainly to support 
	the Light house staff with rations and material. 

5	Anchorage may be obtained in a protected area of the channel in between Landfall Island SE edge and East Island SW side at depths above 20 m.

6	Channel Islet (13º 39'.8 N, 93º 01'.9 E), a large rock 19m high, lies 3½ cables off the E side of Landfall Island, close to the fringing reef.

	Several shoal patches lie off the N side of Landfall Island.

7	Hickman Shoal located about 1½ miles N of the NW end of Landfall Island, has a least depth of 8m.

8	Ranger Reef (13º 39'.3 N, 93º 06'.2 E) consists of a group of shallow patches, the shallowest of which is a 1.8m patch, lying 2 miles E of  the N part of East Island. A 8m patch, lies within ¾ mile N of Ranger Reef. 
	In heavy weather reef is marked by breakers but at other times it cannot be seen, even from left. Tide rips occur near the reef and between it and the N point of East Island.

9	Jackson Ledge, with a least depth of 3.2m, lies 4.5 miles ENE of Wilson Point, the S end of East Island. There are tide rips near this ledge but it has not been seen to break. An 8.4m patch lies 2.3 miles NE of 			Jackson Ledge.

10	East Island Light (13º 37'.8N 93º 03'.0E), 35m high, is exhibited from a white round metal with red bands standing on the S summit of the sand. A radio beacon transmits Code D from the light.
