Mariners are cautioned that Fishing Stakes are liable to be met within depths of less than 20 metres covered by this chart, except for the duration of the SW Monsoon.


OIL AND GAS PIPELINES
Oil and gas pipelines contains flammable material under high pressure. Any ship damaging a pipeline could face an immediate fire hazard. Mariners are strongly advised not to anchor or trawl in the vicinity of pipelines.


OMISSION OF CERTAIN NAVIGATIONAL AIDS, OFFSHORE PLATFORMS, ROCKS AND WRECKS
Certain lights, beacons, buoys,offshore platforms, rocks and wrecks have been omitted from this chart; for details of these, the larger scale charts and the List of Lights should be consulted.

CURRENTS
The currents are of monsoonal origin, but tend to follow the trend of the coast.In December and January sets are north-westerly with rates of upto 1 knot.In July and August, when the SW Monsoon is well established, south easterly sets with rates of upto 2 knots are experienced.
Exceptionally on-shore sets of upto 1,5 knots are experienced during the NE Monsoon and upto 3 knots during the NE Monsoon and upto 3 knots during the SW Monsoon. For further information see Sailing Directions.
