CURRENTS
 
 Currents in the area covered by this chart are rather variable at all seasions. The are
 affected by the monsoons: from November to March they set predominantly in westerly
 directions tending to be W to SW in the northern parts and W to NW in the south: and
 from May to September in easterly directions (mainly E to SE).In April currents are
 usually light and variable and in October usually variable south of about 10°N but 
 predominantly North North Westarly north of this latitude. In all mounth there is a
 current setting along the coast of NE Sumatera in a general North Westerly direction.

                                 AIDS TO NAVIGATION
 The aides to navigation within Indonesian Waters are reported to be unreliable. They may
 be missing, unlit or out of position.
                                 
                            SATELLITE - DERIVED POSITIONS
 Positions obtained from satellite navigation system are normally referred to
 the World Geodetic System (WGS); adjustments for plotting such positions cannot
 be determined for this chart but it should not be assumed that they are negligible.
