CURRENTS
Currents generally follow the trend of the coast, though occasional onshore currents of up to 1 knot occur and there is a good deal of variability - particularly during the NE Monsoon.
From November to January the most common sets are to NW or W of India and Pakistan, turning to SW of Oman; rates are usually less than 0.5 knot. From March to September the circulation is reversed with sets to NE of Oman, turning to E or SE of Pakistan and India; rates are most commonly about 0.5 knot but 2 knots may be attained at times.
