CURRENTS

In the vicinity of Turneffe Islands currents with rates up to 2 knots may be experienced. These generally set directly across the barrier reefs. In Inner channel a southward setting current with a rate sometimes exceeding 1 knot is associated with heavy rain or northerly winds. See ADMIRALTY Sailing Directions for further information.
