CURRENTS

From October to May the flow is westerly along the south coast of Yemen then
north-westerly through Bab el Mandeb at rates of up to 0·75 knots; rates of
up to 3 knots may on occasion be encountered. From June to August the usual
flow is south-easterly through Bab el Mandeb then easterly along the south
coast of Yemen at rates of up to 1 knot, but westerly currents of up to 0·75
