PASSAGE OF THE CABLE FERRY AT UDBYHOEJ
The cable ferry is towed by two steel cables connecting the ferry berths.
While the ferry is berthed the cables rest on the seabed and passage is unhindered.
While the ferry is crossing the cables are gradually raised from the seabed before gradually falling 
again astern of the ferry. As the cables are closer to the surface of the sea on the pull side 
than on the fall side astern it is important to give a wide berth and pass at a sound distance astern of the ferry.
Furthermore, the cables' proximity to the surface of the sea is determined by tide and wind on 
the hull and side of the ferry. At current velocities exceeding 4 knots and winds exceeding 15 m/s 
the cables both fore and astern of the ferry will remain very close to the surface of the sea 
across the entire width of the fjord. Under such conditions passage is not advised until the ferry is berthed.
