CURRENTS
Throughout the year the Equatorial Current flows on
a predominantly west to north-west direction off the south
coast of Haiti at mean rates of between 0.5 to 1 knot.
The Antilles Current flows south-westerly through the
Windward Passage at similar mean rates but the
prevailing weather conditions and coastal configuration
can result in variable direction.Counter-currents for
both current systems exist and may be experienced close inshore. 

CORRIENTES
Durante el año, los flujos de la Corriente Ecuatorial
van predominantemente del oeste al noroeste de la costa sur
de Haití,a velocidades medias de entre 0.5 a 1 nudo.
Los flujos de la Corriente de Las Antillas se mueven hacia el
suroeste a través del Paso de los Vientos a velocidades medias
similares,pero las condiciones meteorológicas reinantes y
la configuración de la costa pueden variar la dirección.
Las contracorrientes para ambos sistemas existen y quizás
puedan sentirse cerca de la costa.
